Can I visit the Southampton Boat Show by boat ?

Can I Get to the Southampton Boat Show by Boat?

If you’re planning a visit to the Southampton International Boat Show, you might be wondering: can you get to the Southampton Boat Show by boat? The answer is yes — and having done the journey ourselves from Poole, we can confirm it’s a brilliant way to arrive.

Travelling from Poole to Southampton by Boat

For our trip to the Southampton Boat Show, the Blue Lagoon Marine team decided to leave the cars behind and make the journey by sea.

We departed Poole at around 9:00am, heading out through Poole Harbour and along the South Coast towards Southampton. The journey took approximately three hours, and we arrived in Southampton at around 12:00pm.

Of course, your journey time will depend on your boat, cruising speed, weather and sea conditions. It’s important to check the forecast, tides and passage plan before setting off.

Where Can You Moor for the Southampton Boat Show?

We chose to moor at Town Quay Marina in Southampton, which proved to be a very convenient option for visiting the show.

On arrival, we were able to moor in a visitor berth at Town Quay Marina. From the marina, it was only around a five-minute walk to the entrance of the Southampton Boat Show.

This meant we could step off the boat and be at the show within minutes, without having to worry about driving into Southampton, finding parking or dealing with the traffic surrounding such a large event.

Is It Worth Going to the Southampton Boat Show by Boat?

For us, definitely.

Travelling from Poole to Southampton by boat turned the journey itself into part of the day. Rather than spending the morning driving, we enjoyed a trip along the South Coast before arriving right in the centre of Southampton.

Leaving Poole at 9:00am and arriving at Town Quay at approximately 12:00pm also meant we still had plenty of time to enjoy the show.

If you’re based in Poole, Dorset, or elsewhere along the South Coast, travelling to the Southampton Boat Show by boat can be a great alternative to going by car.

If you’re thinking about making the journey yourself, we’d recommend contacting the marina beforehand to check visitor berth availability, particularly during the Southampton Boat Show when the area can be extremely busy.

For the Blue Lagoon Marine team, arriving at one of the UK’s biggest boat shows by boat seemed like the only appropriate way to do it!
