Are we due a change in the market in 2025?
Following some challenging market conditions during 2024, keep reading as we dive into our thoughts for the season ahead.
As many buyers and sellers will be aware, certain areas of the market have been challenging in 2024 and we are looking ahead to 2025 to see what could influence a change. 2024 brought us many unsettling events including an ongoing war, an election, higher interest rates and of course another terrible ‘summer’ here in the UK. We have also seen the effects of Covid taking place, where boat prices increased, lots of first time boaters came into the market and now people are looking to upgrade or sell up.
Put all the above into one and that gives you an un-balanced and sticky market…
The lead up to Christmas was unusual and unpredictably busy for us, but perhaps a glimpse of how things may improve into 2025… There are certainly some good deals out there on newer boats as dealers (ourselves included) look to sell off some stock, so this could encourage buyers to take the opportunity to upgrade from a used boat to a new boat, or if you are new to boating, this could be a good time to buy in.
The brokerage market seems to also be settling, more enquiries, more viewings and boats are starting to move, which is good news for sellers across the board. This said, it has never been more important to ensure your boat is priced correctly and presented correctly, with more competition it is important to make sure your boat stands out above the rest.
Put all of the above together, throw in some warmth and some sunny days and see what happens… !
